Delivered

As you can see, I got the lion's share of my order delivered. The blocks on the left are for a future landscaping project and the lumber on the right for the greenhouse project. As you can see from the picture, the lumber has a ways to go down the hill but I'm planning to build the walls in seven sections and will just carry enough down for one section at a time so it isn't such a burden to carry. I still am missing the lumber for the ridge beam, roofing panels and doors but I think I should have most of what I need. My hope is that what I don't have, I can easily fit in my minivan and obtain it within 30 minutes or less.

  1. You will be busy getting it done before winter. Or maybe not as you seem to be very efficient.

    1. Keep in mind that most things I post on my blog are on a two or three week time delay. I actually have all the walls up and sheathed and will start on the rafters this weekend in real time.

  2. You do seem to keep yourself pretty busy Ed, blocks too?! Anyway, that's a lot of lumber--I'm looking forward to seeing this greenhouse go up!

    1. The blocks are my wife's project, so she has says at this point anyway, but since I was paying for delivery anyway, I got them added to the load. I'm not sure if that project will get done yet this fall or if it will have to wait for spring.

    2. I can't wait, I mean it Ed--HEY I just read about that 2-3 week time delay here! That's pretty smart :^)

    3. It takes some of the pressure off a three post a week schedule when I have a backlog built up.

  3. It's going to be great to see the project take shape! I didn't realize your blog was on a time delay.

    1. I write when I have things to write about which means sometimes I have a backlog of posts and other times I don't. Right now, I have a backlog of posts and rather than bombard everyone with a huge post or lots of posts, I just meter them out knowing at some point in the future, I won't have a lot going on to write about and the accumulated posts will fill that void.

  4. Now I'm curious to see what your wife has planned. Keep us posted on that, too! Speaking of keeping us posted... how are the jellyfish doing? (asking for a friend)

    1. Pancake, Noodle and Potato are doing very well thus far. Pancake has regrown his/her missing two legs lost during the move. Everyone seems to be healthy thus far.

  5. I have been so upset with deliveries of lumber and products over the past few months... Only getting part of a load, etc. But at least the boards are a lot less cheaper than they were a few months ago!

    1. Mine are arriving but not as efficiently as before. I had to keep a list of everything I ordered and check it off as it arrived since they rearranged things so much. Thus far, I have gotten everything I ordered in the right quantities.

    1. I'm still waiting on some tape that seals up the sheathing joints but other than that, everything else has arrived.

  8. Getting materials assembled always makes a project seem more real to me. Until that point it's an idea, but once we have the materials, we know it's going to happen.

    1. Yes, it HAS to happen because the frugal part of me can't let all that material just rot and warp in the sun.

  9. I am looking forward to seeing it go up. I really admire your talent for woodwork and carpentry, Ed.

    1. I'm not sure about the talent part. I always say that I'm a jack of all trades, master of none.
