Unexpected First Strike

I'm not one for political memes and usually actively avoid them. I find them full of misleading half truths meant to stick it to one side or the other as a coping mechanism to make our own views appear superior and do little actual good by being shared. Thus I never share them and actively avoid reading them. Last year, I even culled my blog list of some blogs that were starting to rely more and more on sharing these sorts of memes. On very rare occasions though, a self deprecating one comes along, slips through my active culling process and is one that tickles my funny bone. This one did all those things and so I will break my rule just this once.

  1. Ed, you're absolutely correct about political memes, but I have to agree that's a funny one.

    1. I'm glad that at least one other person agrees.

  3. I look to (political) memes to be funny, not factual. This one is funny. I saw another the other day that really tickled me as a bird watcher, but I only shared it with close friends/family who also love birds.

    1. I don't look to any of them but if I have to choose, funny is certainly my choice. I think we all need a little bit more humor in our lives... and the ability to laugh at ourselves.

  4. I like political memes for their ability to hold a mirror up to what's going on--with a hefty dose of snark. I don't enjoy a constant diet of them though.

    1. Right now my Facebook feed is full of political memes again after a period of quiet. I’m avoiding it for awhile.

    1. My humor tends to run on the dry side but clever also works.

  6. Oh for sure...blame it on Greenland!! I hate all the turmoil because everyone thinks they are right and others are wrong...perhaps they are all wrong:)

    1. I am usually in the middle with a nuanced view of most things political. I do see the strategic importance of Greenland and it hasn't been the first time the U.S. has tried to purchase it. However, if I was desiring to purchase it, I wouldn't go about it in the manner the Current Occupant has done. I think we have a pretty sweet deal with Greenland already since they essentially allow us to build any sort of base there for any reason. I'm not sure owning it would give us anymore benefits.

    2. Yay Ed! I agree with you 100% As for political articles, I'd like to see both sides of the argument, but right now... I don't know...

    3. My problem is that most articles start out using charged language and usually one sided. It is hard to find articles that don’t use charged language meant to incite fear or play on emotions. Thus far, I have only found tanglenews to be one website that meets my needs.
