(Graphic) Wild Morels In Captivity

This was last weekend's haul.

For some reason, I made the mistake of encouraging my oldest daughter to try one of the fried morels during supper. She loved it. From that point on it was a free for all to see who could consume their share of fried morels the fastest!

In theory we have them here too but I've never seen them.
And apples never fall very far from the tree.

Kymber - Those actually in the picture were extras found by my parents and given to me. However, I found two more of those buckets full of them four days later. More about that on Friday.

Vince - They supposedly have a wide range for growing but I've only found them in Iowa and northern Missouri. I think the biggest reason for that is because I know where to find them among the local terrain but stick me in different terrain and I would be lost.

Warren - I breathed a sigh of relief when my oldest declined to eat them the next evening. However the next night she was back to wolfing them down so a monster I have created. I guess I'm going to have to get more field time to find more to keep her fed. That's not all bad!

Kymber - Well around here, I've seen them go for as much as $20 a pound after they've been soaking in water for awhile. I've never seen them shipped fresh because they are pretty fragile and would be nothing but pieces by the time they made it to you. Your best shot would be to get some that have been dehydrated. I found some here online selling for $28 per 2 oz.

I've never had a morel. But I've no doubt we would fry them here, as well.
